A Moment of Rooted Gratitude

appreciating entangled presence

Hello! I made this quick video to say thank you to everyone who came to the Soils of Sisterhood event last Friday and to share the visualizations we offered there, so that those of you who couldn’t be there in body can enjoy some energetic rooting and seed planting. And, I wanted to invite you to come to “A Blue Door in Mud Season” opening this Thursday at Basin Gallery in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We installed the show on Monday and it is feeling lush and magical, planty and portaly. I am finishing up an audio guide for my part of the show which folds in some stereo versions of past multichannel audio work as well. I hope this guide will serve as a way to include people following my work from non NYC locations as well as provide an additional mode of encounter for people in the gallery. I’ll be back with images and links to share, but for now, back to audio editing! Here’s the flier again if you missed it in the previous post. Many thanks!

For those of you working with the Drawing on the Senses exercises, I invite you to continue to revisit the exercises using a different medium. If you have, for example, been working primarily in pencil, trying working with pen. Take note of the properties of the materials you are comfortable with and see how you can expand that comfort to include something new. Consider not just the kinds of marks these materials make, but the speed of them, how you hold them, the sound they make, perhaps the smell — all of these choices inform how we draw. You may also want to try switching hands, or working from a different body position. Notice what you have a resistance to and just breathe with that resistance. New materials coming soon!
